Missions

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations

Matthew 28:19

At Fresh Wind, missions are at the heart of who we are and what we do—both globally and locally. We believe the call to share the love of Christ begins right in our own communities and extends to the ends of the earth. While we joyfully support global missionaries serving in places like Africa, Ukraine, and beyond, we also place strong emphasis on local outreach. From feeding families through our food pantry weekly to  supporting local families and schools, we are committed to being the hands and feet of Jesus wherever there is need. Our mission is not just about crossing borders—it’s about crossing the street, showing up, and serving faithfully in every opportunity God places before us.

Local Ministry

Annual Serve Day

Every year, our church hosts an incredible event known as Serve Day—an annual tradition where over 300 people from our congregation come together with one purpose: to serve our community with the love of Christ. On this special day, we split into more than 20 different teams, each assigned to a unique service project ranging from landscaping and painting to delivering meals, visiting shut-ins, and helping local organizations. It’s a powerful display of unity, compassion, and action as people of all ages roll up their sleeves and meet practical needs in tangible ways. Serve Day is more than just a day of projects—it’s a living expression of our faith and a reflection of our deep commitment to loving our neighbors well.

The Allenger Family

The Allenger family, led by parents Heidi and Merrit, are a dedicated missionary family with eight children who have committed their lives to serving others through the Gospel. Known for their courage and compassion, the Allengers have spent significant time in Ukraine, ministering to those affected by the ongoing war. In the midst of conflict and uncertainty, they have provided not only physical aid and support but also spiritual encouragement and hope to countless individuals and families. When stateside, the Allenger family resides in Thompsonville, Michigan, where they continue to advocate for Ukraine and prepare for future missions. Their unwavering faith and willingness to serve in difficult circumstances make them a powerful example of sacrificial love and obedience to God’s call.

Dave & Melinda Nelson

Dave and Melinda Nelson are devoted missionaries who spend the majority of their ministry in Mozambique, a country with a rich but challenging spiritual landscape. Mozambique has faced decades of hardship—from civil war to widespread poverty—and remains one of the poorest nations globally lbcfw.org+5globalministries.org+5cumorah.com+5. Within this context, Dave and Melinda have committed themselves to sharing the Gospel and supporting the local community, working alongside churches and aid organizations to bring spiritual hope and practical help to people in remote areas. Their faithful service reflects a deep compassion for the Mozambican people and a steadfast belief in the transforming power of their message.

Seth Palmer

Missionary Seth Palmer, originally from Benzie County, Michigan, is the founder of Village Gospel Mission, a ministry dedicated to bringing the hope of the Gospel to remote and unreached communities. With a heart deeply burdened for those who have never heard the name of Jesus, Seth has focused much of his work in Africa, where he has faithfully served for years. He is one of the few missionaries to have made meaningful inroads with the Maasai people—an indigenous group known for their rich traditions and relative isolation from outside influence. Through perseverance, cultural respect, and a genuine love for the people, Seth has built lasting relationships and opened doors for the Gospel to take root among the Maasai, helping to plant seeds of faith that are beginning to grow in even the most remote villages.
