Day 1: Making Room for Jesus

Scripture: Isaiah 40:3 - "A voice of one calling: 'In the wilderness prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God.'"

Reflection: Advent is a special time for Christians worldwide as we prepare our hearts for the coming of Jesus. Like John the Baptist, who called for repentance and readiness, we too are called to make a place for Jesus in our busy lives. Often, we find ourselves overwhelmed by tasks, responsibilities, and distractions that vie for our attention. These "clutters" can block our spiritual paths and prevent us from experiencing God's full presence.

John's message helps us understand the importance of clearing these obstacles to make way for Jesus. This doesn't mean abandoning our responsibilities but rather prioritizing what truly aligns with God's desires for us. When we intentionally create space in our lives for prayer, reflection, and worship, we open our hearts to the peace and joy that Advent symbolizes. This season, let us reflect on what we need to remove from our lives so that we can embrace more of Jesus’ love and grace.

Action Item: Spend 10 minutes in quiet reflection, writing down what might be distracting you from focusing on Jesus, and commit to setting one of these aside this week.

Prayer: Lord, help me clear my heart and mind to make room for You. As I prepare for this Advent season, let my focus be on You above all else. Amen.
