FAMILY Day 3: Contentment in Christ
Scripture: Luke 3:14 (NIV) - "Be content with your pay."
Reflection: Sometimes, it’s easy to focus on what we don’t have or what others have that looks better. Whether it's the latest toy or the coolest gadget, we often find ourselves wishing for more. But John the Baptist reminds us to be happy and thankful for what we already have. Imagine if you found out that the greatest treasure isn't buried in gold, but is actually inside your heart!
Contentment allows us to see the beauty in what we have now, like a warm bed, a loving family, or a fun book to read. When we appreciate these gifts, we free ourselves from the chase for more. We start to see that Jesus is the best gift of all. During Advent, let's focus on gratitude, understanding that when we appreciate what we have, we allow our hearts to be a place where Jesus can live and shine. Remember, the biggest happiness comes not from having everything, but from being thankful for everything.
Family Activity: Share three things each family member is thankful for today. Talk about how being happy with what we have makes room for more joy.
Prayer: Thank you, God, for everything we have. Help us to be happy and enjoy all our blessings. Amen.
