FAMILY Day 8: From Gloom to Glory

Day 8: From Gloom to Glory

Scripture: Isaiah 9:1-2 (NLT)

"Nevertheless, that time of darkness and despair will not go on forever. The land of Zebulun and Naphtali will be humbled, but there will be a time in the future when Galilee of the Gentiles, which lies along the road that runs between the Jordan and the sea, will be filled with glory. The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine."

Reflection: Imagine being in a really dark room where you can’t see anything at all. That’s what life felt like for many people long ago; their days were filled with fear and uncertainty. But God promised them a special gift, a great light that would take away the darkness. That light is Jesus! During Advent, we remember that Jesus came to light up our lives and chase away our worries. Just like a night light comforts you in the dark, Jesus lights up our paths and helps us feel safe and happy. At home, school, or during play, know that Jesus’s light is always there, leading us to brighter days. Let’s focus on how we can see and share His light this season!

Family Activity: Just like last night: turn off the lights in the house and light a candle or use a flashlight. Talk about how just a little light can make a big difference in the dark, and think of simple ways you can bring Jesus’s light into your home and daily life.

Prayer: Jesus, thank you for bringing light into our darkest hours. Help us always to remember your presence and follow your bright path of hope. Amen.
