Day 14: Jesus, The Light of the World

Scripture: John 8:12 (NLT)"Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, ‘I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.’”

Reflection: Imagine being outside at night, and everything is really dark. Now, think about how much better it feels when you turn on a flashlight and suddenly see where you’re going. That’s what Jesus meant when He said He is the Light of the World. His light helps us see clearly and make good choices every day. When we follow Jesus and let His light guide us, we find joy, truth, and purpose. He helps us understand right from wrong and shows us how to love others just as He loves us. And as we reflect on this during Advent, consider how wonderful it is to have Jesus lighting up our lives, helping us to be kind and generous to everyone around us.

Family Activity: Together, make a list of ways each person can be a light in a friend’s life this week, maybe by helping them with a task, playing with them, or saying something encouraging. At the end of the week, share how being a light to someone made both you and them feel.

Prayer: Jesus, thank you for being our guiding light. Help us follow you closely and shine your light into the lives of others. Amen.
