DAY 15: Making Room for the Miracle
Day 1: "Making Room for the Miracle"
Scripture: Luke 2:6-7
"While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn."
Reflection:
Imagine the bustling town of Bethlehem during the census. People were so busy and every place was full. Mary and Joseph, about to welcome Jesus, found no room in the inn. This reminds us of how easily we can fill our lives with so many things that there's no room left for Jesus. It's like when our rooms are so messy we can't find what we need, or if our schedules are packed with activities, we forget to spend time with our family. During Advent, we prepare to celebrate Jesus's birth, and this preparation involves making physical and spiritual space for Him. Discuss together how busyness can sometimes crowd out what's most important. Share times when you’ve felt too busy and what you did to find balance again. Just like Mary and Joseph, who had to find a unique spot for Jesus’s birth, we may need to be creative in how we prioritize time with God. Let's use this Advent to focus on clearing out the clutter and making room for the miracle of Jesus in our homes and hearts.
Family Activity:
Together, choose one thing to "declutter" from your schedule or home this week to make room for more family time or a special Advent activity. It could be cleaning out a messy drawer or deciding to turn off electronic devices during dinner to talk and enjoy each other's company.
Prayer:
Dear Jesus, help us to always make room for You in our hearts and our home. May we never be too busy to see Your miracles. Amen.
