DAY 18: The Power of Quick Response

Day 18: "The Power of Quick Response"

Scripture: Luke 1:38

"'I am the Lord’s servant,' Mary answered. 'May your word to me be fulfilled.' Then the angel left her."

Reflection:

Mary's response to the angel’s announcement of Jesus’s birth was immediate and filled with faith. She said "yes" to God’s plan with a willing heart, even though it must have been both surprising and a little scary. Sometimes, God may ask us to do something unexpected. Maybe it’s helping someone, forgiving a sibling, or giving some of our allowance to charity. When we respond quickly to God's prompts, we show that we trust Him and want to live in obedience. Think about the last time you helped someone without being asked or did something brave after feeling a nudge in your heart. Share these experiences and how they turned out. It's through these acts that we often see God's plan and purpose unfold. In Advent, when we hear the story of Mary and her willingness, it can encourage us to be just as open-hearted and ready to say "yes" to God.

Family Activity:

Play a game of "Simon Says," but with a twist, use prompts like "God says smile at someone," "God says share a toy," and see how quickly you can respond! Afterward, talk about how it felt to respond promptly and willingly.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, help us to quickly say 'yes' to You, just like Mary did. Give us the courage to trust You and follow where You lead. Amen.
