DAY 23: Expectation Check
Day 23: Expectation Check
Scripture: Romans 15:13 (NIV): "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."
Reflection:
During Advent, we often look forward to many things like family gatherings, presents, and yummy treats. It’s easy to expect everything to go just right, but sometimes things change, and it can be disappointing. When that happens, instead of feeling upset, let's remember we can always count on Jesus to fill us with joy and peace. His joy isn't about having everything perfect but about knowing we're loved by Him, no matter what. By trusting in Jesus, our hearts can overflow with hope and joy that lasts beyond any temporary disappointment. This Advent, let’s remind each other that Jesus is the one who never lets us down, and His joy is with us always.
Family Activity:
Create a joy jar. Each family member writes down moments that made them smile or feel joyful today on slips of paper and puts them in the jar. At the end of Advent, read them together and thank Jesus for those moments of joy.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, help us to set our expectations on You and Your promises. Fill us with Your joy and peace, so we overflow with hope. Amen.
