DAY 17: No Canceling Reservations
Day 17: "No Canceling Reservations"
Scripture: John 14:26
"But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you."
Reflection:
Keeping our commitments is important. Think about how it feels when someone promises to play with you or go somewhere with you and then cancels at the last minute. It can be disappointing. Just like we count on our family and friends to keep their promises, God also loves when we keep our "appointments" with Him. These appointments might be time for prayer, reading the Bible, or just sitting quietly together as a family, reflecting on His goodness. When life's busyness tempts us to skip our time with Him, remember that God is always there, eager to spend time with us. Discuss as a family what "appointments" you've made with God, whether it's daily bedtime prayer, weekly worship, or time spent learning more about Him. Talk about why these moments matter so much to everyone. Recognizing how faithful God is in keeping His promises can inspire us to stay committed to our time with Him.
Family Activity:
Create a "reservation" calendar for your family. Together, decide on a regular time each day this week when you'll spend a few moments with God, perhaps reading a story from the Bible or sharing something you're thankful for. Stick to it and at the end of the week, discuss how keeping these appointments affected your week.
Prayer:
God, we want to always keep our appointments with You. Help us to prioritize this special time, because You deserve it. Amen.
