DAY 21: Preparing the Best Room

Dec 21, 2025

Day 21: "Preparing the Best Room"

Scripture: Luke 2:10-11

"But the angel said to them, 'Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.'"

Reflection:

Imagine your favorite person visiting your home. How would you prepare? Perhaps you'd clean up and make everything look perfect. Advent asks us to prepare for Jesus's coming in a similar way by focusing on what matters most, our hearts. As a family, discuss what hospitality looks like and how you can extend that to Jesus. How do you prepare your heart to make room for Him? Talk about what areas of life may need tidying up, whether it’s forgiving someone, being more patient, or spending more time together in prayer. Jesus’s birth was announced as "good news" for everyone. Reflect on how this good news changes how we live each day, not just during Christmas but throughout the year.

Family Activity:

As a family, tidy up a special area in your home to hang an Advent wreath or place a nativity set. (If you already have a space like this walk over to it as a family to reflect) Let this space be a daily reminder to prepare our hearts for Jesus's presence and love. Discuss what it means to make room for Jesus in everyday life.

Prayer:

Jesus, help us to prepare the best room in our hearts for You. Fill us with joy and peace as we welcome You this Advent season. Amen.
